Our Vapor Recovery Units are engineered using cutting-edge technology to maximize hydrocarbon recovery. This not only boosts your operational efficiency but also significantly reduces emissions.
Built for durability and reliability, our units ensure uninterrupted operation in even the most demanding environments. Their modular design allows for easy integration into existing systems, offering a seamless upgrade to your operations.

Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs) are critical components in the oil and gas industry, designed to recover vapors that would otherwise be lost to the atmosphere. These units play a pivotal role in environmental conservation by capturing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other hydrocarbon emissions.
At their core, VRUs operate by creating a pressure differential. This process involves pulling vapor from a storage tank or other source, compressing it, and then either returning it to the process or storing it for sale or use. This not only prevents harmful emissions but also recovers valuable hydrocarbons for further use.
Vapor Recovery Units find applications across several domains in the oil and gas industry, including upstream production sites, midstream storage facilities, and downstream refineries. Each application has its specific requirements and our VRUs are tailored to meet these diverse needs.
Understanding that each facility has unique requirements, we offer customizable VRUs that can be integrated into existing systems. Our team of experts works closely with clients to ensure that each unit is tailored to their specific operational needs.
At the heart of our product development is a commitment to sustainability. By constantly innovating and improving our Vapor Recovery Units, we aim to provide solutions that not only meet today's challenges but also pave the way for a more sustainable future in the oil and gas industry.
A VRU pulls hydrocarbon vapors off storage tanks or process vessels, compresses them, and sends the gas to sales or fuel instead of venting or flaring. Redhead Services supplies VRU packages for tank batteries and production facilities in the Permian Basin.
When the vapor stream has enough BTU and rate to be worth compressing into a sales or fuel line, a VRU can recover product that would otherwise be destroyed. Low-BTU or highly variable streams are often a better fit for an enclosed combustor. We look at rate, composition, and downstream takeaway before recommending one or the other.
VRUs are one of the common controls used to keep tank vapors out of the atmosphere under NSPS OOOO/OOOOa/OOOOb programs. Whether a VRU, combustor, or combination is the right control is a site-specific engineering and permit question, not a slogan.
Inlet scrubbing, compressor lubrication, cooler cleanliness, and control calibration. Permian dust, paraffin, and slugging tanks are the usual reasons a VRU trips. We support packages after install, not only at startup.
Talk to us about the duty and timeline. We supply production equipment from the Odessa yard and will tell you what we can actually deliver, rather than quoting a catalog that is not in stock.
